Around 5,000 people have been relocated in Beijing's Mentougou District as a downpour in the city continued on Monday.

The average rainfall of the district was 320.8 mm, with the highest hitting 580.9 mm as of Monday afternoon.

Local authorities have issued a bulletin which warned there would be a high risk of a possible geological disaster, like land or mudslides, in areas of the district, from Monday noon to Wednesday noon. 

Online footage posted by Xinhua News Agency showed vehicles trapped by rapid water on the streets.
