Chinese President Xi Jinping has wrapped up his trips to Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces. Cen Ziyuan is in the city of Hanzhong, and brings us this report on his visit there.
Hanzhong, a cultural crossroads of northern and southern Chinese traditions, is nestled in Northwestern China's Shaanxi Province. President Xi Jinping visited the city on his return journey to Beijing after staying in Chengdu.
At the Hanzhong Museum on Saturday, he learned about the preservation and legacy of the ancient "Shu Road" and the city's history.
He Xiangbin was the tour guide during President Xi's visit.
HE XIANGBIN Tour Guide, Hanzhong Museum "President Xi paused here for about fifteen seconds. We could see his interest in the inscriptions on the stone."
The museum revolves around the ancient "Shu Road" culture, part of the ancient system linking it to Sichuan Province.
HE XIANGBIN Tour Guide, Hanzhong Museum "The stone records the titles of government officials during the Han Dynasty. It provides a significant reference to understand the government's titling system. President Xi stopped here for about twenty seconds. He showed great interest in them and read out some of the titles."
CEN ZIYUAN Hanzhong, Shaanxi province "President Xi's trip in Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces focused on two things: cultural inheritance and environmental protection. During his visit to the Hanzhong Museum, he reinforced the idea that a museum serves an important role in education and inheritance of the spirit of Chinese tradition and culture. The visit also echoed the point that President Xi attaches great importance to exploring the origin of Chinese civilization and expanding the influence of Chinese culture."
In one of the exhibition halls, President Xi noticed a rattan-stitched display, sparking memories of its use in furniture during his childhood.
He called upon locals to cherish cultural relics and find ways to pass them down for modern use.
LIANG ZHONGXIAO Honorary Curator, Hanzhong Museum "Xi, also the General Secretary of CPC, is deeply concerned about people's livelihood, particularly how modernization, transformation, and the preservation of traditional cultural relics can improve their lives. His dedication is truly inspiring."
President Xi also visited the Hantian Wetland Park.
He emphasized the critical need to protect the wetlands of the Hanjiang River and restore its ecosystem.
After concluding his visit, President Xi returned to Beijing.
