A thundery deluge brought flash flooding to Tokyo on August 1 as the south of the country braces for the approach of a powerful typhoon. In the southern prefecture of Okinawa, some 760,000 people were advised to evacuate ahead of the powerful Typhoon Khanun. That storm is expected to bring damaging winds and torrential rain later this week.
