Young photographer Mohamed Sherif grew up in Old Cairo. His most treasured possession is a film camera given to him by his grandmother. Over the years, he has developed a passion for capturing the architecture and everyday life of Old Cairo through the vintage lens. Recently, though, Sherif visited the central business district of Egypt's new administrative capital. Amazed by this CSCEC-built large-scale urban development project, he began taking photographs. The film, when he developed it, revealed a fascinating juxtaposition of modern towering buildings and the gentle nostalgia of Old Cairo.
