China Media Group (CMG) on Wednesday launched "Chinese Art Shines Anew in Hong Kong," a season of art programs and documentaries to highlight and strengthen cultural and people-to-people bonds between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

John Lee, chief executive of the HKSAR, attended the launch ceremony on Wednesday and delivered his speech to the CGTN Documentary Channel's Art Program Season.

China Media Group's (CMG) CGTN English Channel officially launched on the newly established Hong Kong Radio TV Channel 35 on July 1st to celebrate the 26th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.

Through the CGTN Documentary Channel established in Hong Kong last year, CMG launched the "Chinese Art Shines Anew in Hong Kong," Lee said, adding that this broadcast season brings together representatives of various art forms, carefully selecting a series of high-quality works that promote the traditional culture of the Chinese nation, and provide Hong Kong audiences with a splendid audio-visual feast.

The government of China's HKSAR will continue to fully nurture talents in the creative industries, enhance cultural exchanges between the mainland and overseas, enrich artistic and creative content, and promote Hong Kong's popular culture going global, he said.

"We aspire to promote outstanding Chinese culture and arts to the world, making Chinese culture shine on the international stage," said Lee.

He expressed his gratitude for CMG's steadfast support to the HKSAR over the years and expressed the commitment to maintaining close cooperation with CMG and fully leveraging its extensive and diverse international communication network to tell more inspiring stories of China's progress and the stories of Hong Kong.
