As of August 1, nine people had been killed while six others are still missing after heavy rain lashed north China's Hebei Province. According to the Hebei flood control and drought relief headquarters, the downpour has hit the province with an average rainfall of 137.4 millimeters. Over 540,000 people in 87 counties and districts were affected, and over 8,000 residents in 11 villages downstream had been evacuated.
