How does one eat the low-carbon way at the Chengdu Universiade Village? All food transportation within Sichuan Province is via new energy vehicles, and 72.8 percent of vegetables consumed in the village are local and seasonal. High tech also plays a major role in catering. The smart central kitchen at the Chengdu Universiade Village is equipped with 8 intelligent cooking robots and 3 coffee robots. It not only improves the overall production capacity by 30 percent, but also reduces carbon emissions by 30 percent and waste by 50 percent. Apart from that, all dining tables and chairs are made of environmentally friendly materials, and tableware are made of degradable and recyclable materials.
