Approaching Typhoon Khanun sets off big waves on east China's coast
01:06

The approaching powerful Typhoon Khanun, the sixth typhoon so far this year, has set off big waves in coastal areas in east China's Zhejiang Province, prompting residents to take early disaster prevention measures. The center of Khanun was located in the East China Sea as of 2 p.m. local time on August 3, about 340 kilometers east of Yuhuan City, Zhejiang Province. The coastal areas of Wenling City in Zhejiang have been pounded by strong winds due to the approaching typhoon. Villagers from the nearby fishing village of Shitang Town have reinforced their properties with five-centimeter-thick wooden boards.
