The Fengyun-3 06 meteorological satellite was launched into sun-synchronous orbit on Thursday. The new satellite is expected to enhance China's capabilities in weather forecasting, responding to climate change, monitoring the environment, and preventing and reducing disasters. The launch also marks the one-hundredth launch in the Long March 4 rocket series.
