EU calls for immediate release of ousted Niger's president

The EU on Thursday called for the immediate release of Mohamed Bazoum, the ousted president of Niger.
Josep Borrell, the bloc's foreign policy chief, said on social media that Bazoum's "conditions of detention are increasingly worrying."
Last Sunday, the regional bloc Economic Community of West African States demanded that Niger's army leaders reinstate Bazoum to power within a week or face the possible "last resort" of military intervention.
