EU extends scope of sanctions on Belarus
CGTN

The European Council announced on Thursday that it would extend the scope of sanctions against Belarus.

It said the new measures create a closer alignment of EU sanctions targeting Russia and Belarus and will help ensure that Russian sanctions cannot be circumvented through Belarus.

The new measures expand the ban on exports to Belarus to a number of highly sensitive goods and technologies, which the EU said contribute to Belarus's military and technological enhancement.

The bloc also agreed to impose an additional export ban on firearms and ammunition, as well as on goods and technology suited for use in aviation and the space industry.
