At least three people were killed and 16 more have gone missing after a landslide triggered by heavy rains occurred in India's northern state of Uttarakhand, local media reported on Friday.

"We have recovered the bodies of three people so far during the search and rescue operations," Uttarakhand's disaster management official Nandan Singh Rajwar said in a statement.
