Friday, August 4, marks the 50-day countdown from the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province. A stop motion animation entitled "Asian Games SHOW Hangzhou" was launched on the day by the organizing committee as the beginning of the promotional video series "Asian Games，Hangzhou Charms."
The animation is produced by individual frames embroidered on thousands of individual pieces of Hangzhou silk, each with exquisite patterns, designs and colors, creating an illusion of movement between each frame.
Meanwhile, the Fuxing bullet train, specially designed for the Hangzhou Asian Games, also completed the first trial run with passengers on Friday. It is coated in Rainbow Purple, a dominant color for the event and decorated with patterns of the emblem, slogan and sports pictograms. The intelligent electric multiple unit consists of eight cars with a capacity of 578 passengers and can reach a speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
The train will run between the host city Hangzhou in addition to the five co-host cities of Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Shaoxing and Huzhou, all in Zhejiang Province.
The Hangzhou Asian Games will take place from September 23 to October 8 with 483 events from 61 sports under 40 disciplines.
On September 24, the first matchday after the opening ceremony, not only will the first gold medal be awarded, but the first Esports match will also take place as an official medal event in Asian Games history.
The other newly-added event to the Asian Games, breakdancing, will meet spectators on October 6.
