How will AI machines evolve in the future? In an interview with CGTN's Tian Wei, Song-chun Zhu, the director of the Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence, points out that the future of AI rests on building a "heart" for the machine. He explains the concept through Chinese philosophy, which he thinks is aligned very well with the development of AI. On the one hand, he says the "heart" means the value system, an idea by Wang Yangming. Zhu believes that without needs, machines do not know what to do. On the other hand, the "heart" means the learning process. He cites the concept of texture by Zhu Xi, a typical Chinese neo-Confucianist.
