An ultra-high-altitude wind farm at an altitude of around 5,100 meters in Comai County of southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region was connected to the power generation grid on Thursday. The first five wind turbines connected to the grid each have a capacity of 3.6 megawatts. The grid-connected wind turbine is currently the highest capacity wind turbine operating in China's ultra-high altitude areas.

After the project is fully operational, the annual electricity generation will exceed 200 million kilowatt-hours, which can meet the electricity consumption of nearly 140,000 families in the surrounding area for a year.
