China's current account surplus was $146.8 billion in the first six months of the year, according to the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE).

The ratio of current account surplus to gross domestic product stood at 1.7 percent during the period, official data showed on Friday.

Of the total, the surplus under trade in goods came in at $293.3 billion, and the deficit under trade in services was $102.1 billion, the data showed.

In the first half of this year, China's goods trade surplus remained at a historically high level compared to the same period in the past, Wang Chunying, deputy head of SAFE, said on Friday. The deficit in services trade has gradually returned to a normal level, and cross-border capital flows under the capital account have shown a stable trend, she added.

Wang said the Chinese economy has maintained its recovery trend, while also gaining momentum, adding that its long-term fundamentals will continue to underpin the basic equilibrium in the balance of payments.
