Meet Le Le, the first giant panda cub born in Singapore. He will turn 2 years old soon this month and has grown to a whopping 56 kilograms now!
Weighing just an estimated 200 grams at birth, Le Le was born on August 14, 2021 to parents Kai Kai and Jia Jia.
The parents arrived at Singapore's Mandai Wildlife Reserve in 2012 on loan from Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, as sub-adults.
The two began mating in 2015. After seven years of trying, the duo had success with the birth of Le Le.
His name was the result of an online poll of more than 64,000 votes, of which 31,000 were for the name "Le Le." The name comes from an old Chinese term "shi le po," referring to Singapore.
Le Le had grown to weigh more than 33 kg when he turned one, and now he has grown to almost half the size of an adult male panda.
