Meanwhile, China's Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning settled for a 2nd place finish in the women's doubles event losing 18-21, 16-21 to South Korean duo Kim So-yeong and Kong Hee-yong who had already won three titles this season.

The men's singles final was revenge for Weng after losing to Prannoy 2-1 in the Malaysia Master's earlier in May.

Weng took an early lead 21-9. The two took turns to lead the second set which eventually went to Prannoy 21-23, but exhausted both before the third, during which both players lied down on the floor gasping after an intense rally.

Weng fought from 14-19 behind to level the set before Prannoy reached the first match point, only to be reversed by Weng as he took the decider 22-20.

In other events, Beiwen Zhang of the U.S. won the women's singles title, and South Korean duo Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-jae won the men's doubles title.
