Once a barren land at the edge of a desert, Youyu County, in northern China's Shanxi Province has undergone decades of afforestation. The now picturesque landscape there has become a favorite spot for artists to paint outdoors. With the recent summer holiday marking the peak season for outdoor painting, more than 60 renowned artists and painting enthusiasts, both domestic and international, have found inspiration in Youyu.
