As flood waters retreat in worst-hit Zhuozhou City of north China's Hebei Province, rescue operations have switched focus to draining the water in hard-hit areas, such as large residential areas. In one instance, the underground garage of a community accumulated 70,000 cubic meters of water. The rescue detachment carried out flood drainage operations with large pumps that ran 24 hours a day, displacing about 3,000 cubic meters per hour.
