In Japan, forecasters say Typhoon Khanun is on course to dump prolonged, heavy rains on one of the main islands this week. This has forced commemorations for the Nagasaki atomic bombing event indoors. Local media says Khanun killed at least two people in the southern Okinawa region last week, injured over 100, and cut power to hundreds of thousands of homes.
