Zhaoling Mausoleum, also known as Beiling, is the imperial tomb of the Qing Dynasty's first ruler, Emperor Huangtaiji, and his empress. Occupying an area of 160,000 square kilometers, Zhaoling is the largest of three Qing Dynasty tombs found in Shenyang. It was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2004. Now the tomb is part of Beiling Park, an area covered in thick pine forests which act as a haven for hundreds of species of wild creatures.
