The forthcoming World Athletics Championships, scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, from August 19 to 27, unveiled its medal designs on Tuesday.

The medal designs encapsulate the essence of both the host nation, Hungary, and its sporting heritage, according to the organizers.

In terms of Hungary's identity, the front side of the medal showcases the Statue of Liberty atop Gellert Hill in Budapest, an emblem of victory and enlightenment. At the center of the reverse side is the new National Athletics Centre, flanked by the athletics track, which in reality documents event history, according to the organizers.

The medals will be awarded to not only athletes but also their coaches this time.

"It was imperative that our medals connect sports, heroism and national identity. Moreover, for the first time in the history of the World Athletics Championships, all three coaches of the podium finishers will also receive medals," said Balazs Nemeth, CEO of the local organizing committee.
