China's Finance and Water Resources ministries on Wednesday allocated an emergency fund of one billion yuan (around $138.8 million) to help people in eight flood detention basins in north China to restore normal life.
Last week, record-breaking rains brought by Typhoon Doksuri hit northern China, damaging crops and agricultural production facilities and leading to flooding.
Eight flood detention basins in the provinces of Hebei and Henan, as well as Tianjin municipality were activated and stored a volume of 1.847 billion cubic meters floods, effectively reducing the flood control pressure in downstream areas, Chinese authorities said on Wednesday.
The fund will be used to compensate losses caused by the floods, the ministries said.
