Olympic champions Gong, Liu to lead China at World Athletics Championships

The Chinese Athletics Association announced on Friday its 41-person roster for the 2023 World Athletics Championships, which is scheduled to take place from August 19 to 28 in Budapest, Hungary.

Among the squad are veterans including Olympic champion Gong Lijiao, Liu Shiying, and defending champions in men's long jump and women's discus throw respectively, Wang Jianan and Feng Bin.

Gong, 34, will be seeking a third women's shot put world title in her ninth trip, and Liu is eyeing her first world championships title in the javelin throw.

Featuring 49 medal events, some 2,100 athletes from over 200 teams will compete at Hungary's new National Athletics Center.
