The world's largest clean energy corridor has achieved the remarkable milestone of generating over 1 billion kWh of electricity per day for three consecutive days, according to the China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG). The corridor comprises six mega hydropower stations on the Yangtze River, the largest river in China. With some 100 generating units in the corridor operating at full capacity, the electric power generated by the six mega hydropower stations per day is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption by 1.05 million people, according to the CTG. The level of power production is sufficient to alleviate the strained power supply in the east, south and central parts of the country, where electricity is in high demand.
