Local authorities in Xiuyan Man Autonomous County have evacuated 15,469 residents as the region was pummeled by heavy rain, fueled by Typhoon Khanun. The torrential rain had brought precipitation of 127.6 millimeters on average across the county as of 3 p.m. on August 13. In Suzigou Town, an emergency shelter has been set up at a middle school, with student dormitories provided to evacuated villagers for temporary shelter. Food, drinking water and other daily necessities have also been provided. The county has put all of its 1,479 government staff responsible for flood control on duty.
