Sabino Vaca Narvaja is Argentina’s ambassador to China. In 2021, he attended the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the CPC in Tiananmen Square. He was particularly struck by a song he heard that day, and subsequently he learnt the words. When the president of Argentina visited Beijing in 2022, the ambassador attended the meeting between the two presidents. When he saw President Xi Jinping, he spontaneously called out a line from the song: “Without the Communist Party of China, there would be no New China”. To his delight, President Xi Jinping responded with a smile, saying “Well said, well said.”
