The 13th Chinese peacekeeping engineering contingent deployed to Wau, a city in the northwestern part of South Sudan, has successfully completed a key road repair mission as assigned by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). The 10-kilometer-long road connecting the city of Kuajok with the nearby airport and UN bases was seriously damaged due to heavy rains. It is the only viable transport option for the locals to reach these places, and it is also a major route available for peacekeeping missions in the region. The Chinese peacekeeping engineering contingent spent over 40 days restoring the broken road, overcoming difficulties such as frequent rainy days and insufficient logistics.
