Over 2,400 killed in Haiti gang violence since January: UN

More than 2,400 people have been killed in Haiti since the beginning of 2023 due to widespread gang violence, including over 350 individuals lynched by locals and vigilante groups, according to the United Nations.

"Between January 1 and August 15of this year, at least 2,439 people have been killed and a further 902injured," UN rights office spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasanitold reporters in Geneva.
