Kelson Teo has come all the way from the Netherlands to study law at Tsinghua University in the Chinese capital. He admires Chinese architecture and language. He found that the Chinese language system is quite different from Western languages. Apart from the unique tones to distinguish meanings, the Chinese writing system is very old and has a different logic from Western languages. While most Western languages use a phonetic system, Chinese uses both phonetic and ideographic systems. In addition, Chinese dialects are also very interesting. Although the written language is the same, there are great differences between dialects in different regions. In the future, Kelson Teo hopes that there will be more cultural exchanges between China and the Netherlands.
