China's Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management will pre-allocate 1 billion yuan (about $137 million) to provide relief to people severely affected by recent floods and ensure their basic livelihoods, China Media Group reported on Saturday.

The funds will be mainly allocated to five provincial-level regions: Beijing, north China's Tianjin Municipality and Hebei Province, northeast China's Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces.

Together with the funds already allocated, the central government has earmarked a total of 9.68 billion yuan for flood control and relief since the beginning of this year's flood season, according to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management.

The funds will go toward supporting emergency rescue and relief work, and helping people affected by recent floods to resume production and daily life as soon as possible.
