Chinese filmmaker Lu Chuan's 2009 work, "City of Life and Death," has been newly selected for Variety's 'The 30 Greatest War Films' list. The list also includes films by world-renowned directors, such as Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket" and "Paths of Glory," Steven Spielberg's "Saving Private Ryan" and "Schindler's List," among others. Ranking at No. 8 on the list, "City of Life and Death" is the sole Chinese-language film. Lu Chuan expressed his genuine surprise at this recognition, both for himself and his team. In a recent interview with CGTN's Zhang Meng, Lu also recounted the challenges and difficulties they encountered during filming and how they ultimately succeeded in bringing the untold history to global audiences.
