Canadian fire crews on Thursday battled to prevent wildfires from reaching the northern city of Yellowknife, capital of Canada's Northwest Territories, where all 20,000 residents are leaving by cars and flights after an evacuation order was declared. Hundreds of kilometers south of Yellowknife, homes were burning in West Kelowna, British Columbia, a city with a population of about 38,000.
