1 person killed, 185 buildings destroyed in Washington wildfire
A wind-driven wildfire in eastern Washington state has destroyed at least 185 buildings, led to the closure of a major highway and left one person dead. The blaze began shortly after midday on August 18 on the west side of Medical Lake, about 24 kilometers west of Spokane, and then expanded. It grew to nearly 38 square kilometers on August 19, with no containment. The burned structures were a mix of homes and outbuildings.
