"Read, then paint." This is the maxim of Liu Wanming, an artist who is committed to depicting nature in the spirit of traditional Chinese painting. In his work, he combines the rigor of the Song Dynasty with the more relaxed approach of the Yuan Dynasty. Thanks to his love of reading, he is able to bring a sense of ancient charm to his paintings of the scenery of his hometown. The piglets, chickens and tadpoles he remembers from his childhood embody the sense of nostalgia in Liu Wanming's work.
