Guests Return - Protecting Chinese Crested Terns
09:11

The Chinese crested tern is a critically endangered species that was once thought extinct. In 2004, however, researchers spotted the bird on Jiushan Chain Islands of Xiangshan County in coastal Zhejiang Province. Thanks to the dedicated conservation efforts of monitors and volunteers, its population has been steadily increasing. Jiushan, meanwhile, has become the species' biggest and most important breeding base.
