The Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that it has sent a MiG-29 fighter jet after detecting an aircraft of the Norwegian Air Force approaching Russia's state border over the waters of the Barents Sea.

"As the Russian fighter jet approached, the foreign military aircraft made a U-turn from the state border of the Russian Federation," the ministry added.

There has been no response from Norway yet.
