Of the tens of thousands of cultural relics on display at Datong Museum, some ancient pottery statues resemble modern "emojis" with their hilarious facial expressions and unique designs, offering visitors a touch of humor from ancient China.

As a national first-class museum in Datong, north China's Shanxi Province, Datong Museum highlights the distinct character of the city's history and culture, which is reflected through four themed displays, including "Tremendous Changes of Dai," "Pingcheng of the Northern Wei Dynasty," "Western Capital of the Liao and Jin Dynasties" and "Strategic Area of the Ming and Qing Dynasties."
