The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a project that contributes to the economic development of Pakistan, Pakistani caretaker Minister for National Heritage and Culture Syed Jamal Shah said.
He made the remarks on Saturday on the occasion of his visit to China Window, a Chinese cultural center, established in Peshawar, the capital of the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Shah said Pakistani leadership has given clear instructions that the work pace on CPEC should be accelerated so the ongoing projects could be completed and investors from all over the world could come to invest in Pakistan.
Referring to the recently made film "Ba'Tie Girl," the first major co-production by Pakistani and Chinese producers, he said it will be released soon in Pakistan.
Shah, who is a co-producer of this film, said Pakistan's partnership with China in this field could play an important role in the revival of the South Asian country's film industry.
"The Pakistani film industry needs substantial support, and assistance from China holds significant value especially given China's emergence as one of the largest film markets globally," according to the minister.
Launched in 2013, CPEC, the flagship project of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, is a corridor linking the Gwadar port in southwestern Pakistan with Kashgar in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which highlights energy, transport and industrial cooperation.
