Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo on Friday accompanied General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong to inspect the Youyi Pass, also known as Friendship Pass, on the China-Vietnam border in northern Vietnam's Lang Son province.

Noting that the pass is the only cross-border port in the world named after the word "friendship," Trong said that it reflects the long tradition of a "comrades-plus-brothers" friendship between the Vietnamese and Chinese peoples.

Vietnam has always attached great importance to and given top priority to the development of relations with the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government and people, Trong noted.

He appreciated Lang Son's government and local departments, which have worked with China to make significant contributions to promoting friendship and cooperation between the local provinces and cities of the two countries and maintaining peace, cooperation and development in the border area. He urged them to continue to work closely with the Chinese side to build a border area with peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development.
