China has identified innovative capability as the key to high-quality development in the following years, if not decades. Thus, increasing the level of innovation in Chinese firms is a key priority for its long-term plans. Recent surveys across the world have indicated that only a few executives are satisfied with their firms' innovation performance. So what are the driving forces behind innovation in China? How can an increasingly fragmented world affect innovation at the company level?
