Huawei introduced its flagship smartphone with an apparently advanced in-house processor, leaving the world guessing how the Chinese tech giant secured the component despite years of U.S. blacklisting.
The Shenzhen-based company on Tuesday suddenly unveiled its Mate 60 Pro device with no launch event held, no advance notice and no advertising as well.
The company announced in an open letter that the Mate 60 Pro is "the most powerful Mate model" ever, selling for 6,999 yuan ($960).
The new product supports incoming and outgoing calls via satellite when there is no ground network. Users can also generate travel track maps via satellite and send out location messages.

The first batch of the new product went out of stock in minutes right after the launch as enthusiasts and early adopters rushed to purchase the phone to explore the features.
The company didn't specify if the new phone features 5G connectivity, while the growing number of online users who managed to buy the phone started posting videos of tests to show the phone could match the network speeds of the 5G chipset.
The company upgraded its glass material, which provides twice the durability as before. The phone also embedded its AI large model. It has other features such as AI air-to-air control, smart payment and functions such as keeping the screen on while watching.
