MOFA: China's import ban on Japanese aquatic products legitimate
00:35

China's regulation on suspending imports of all Japanese aquatic products is fully legitimate, reasonable and necessary, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. The ministry's spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, made the remarks at a press briefing in Beijing when asked to comment on Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi's remarks that his country would take action on China's aquatic products, including within the WTO framework.

The General Administration of Customs of China announced on August 24 that the country will suspend the imports of all aquatic products, including edible aquatic animals, originating from Japan starting on August 24 to prevent risks from Japan's discharge of nuclear-contaminated water.
