Mauricio Pochettino, manager of Chelsea, told reporters on Wednesday that he will be satisfied with the club's current lineup if they don't sign any new player before the summer transfer window closes on Friday.
"I am really happy with the squad that we have got at the moment, so far," Pochettino said ahead of the EFL Cup second round game against AFC Wimbledon. "If we add someone that maybe can improve different positions of course, it is welcome. If not, I am happy to be how we are now."
Chelsea have so far spent 417.1 million euros (about $453.4 million) on acquiring players during the summer window. The arrivals of Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku cost the club 116 million (about $126.1 million), 62.1 million (about $67.5 million) and 60 million euros (about $65.2 million) respectively. Of course, "The Blues" managed to fund some of these transfers with the departures of a series of players, including Kai Havertz and Mason Mount. These deals translated into a total of 254.9 million euros (about $277.1 million).
Despite the massive investments, Chelsea had a slow start in the 2023-24 Premier League season. They won only one of their first three games and lost to West Ham United on the road on August 20.

Chelsea are reportedly in talks regarding transfers of Arsenal's midfielder Emile Smith Rowe and Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson.
"To be honest, we are so focused on trying to recover players and to be focusing on the game we are going to play tomorrow in the Carabao Cup against Wimbledon," Pochettino said. "I know very well that the club is working really hard to try to finish our business. There are still a few days."
"Something might happen. Maybe, yes. At the moment, the club are trying to deliver what we want. There is still nothing to communicate at the moment," he added.
Chelsea's Premier League fixture will grow tough from October 21 when they start playing Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Manchester United in the following seven games.
