Japan's controversial decision to release nuclear-contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean has triggered alarm and discontent among fishermen in the Republic of Korea's (ROK) Jindo region. Jindo is an island located in the southwestern province of Jeollanam-do, which is over 1,000 kilometers away from the crippled power plant. Due to its high cleanliness, the island boasts the purest sea in the ROK. It is also a major abalone production base in the country.
