A selection of six contemporary Russian films from different genres, including "The Whaler Boy," winner of the Venice Days Director's Award at the 2020 Venice Film Festival, will be screened in Beijing as part of the ongoing Russian Film Festival.

The 2023 film "Three Minutes of Silence" will also be screened. The movie focuses on a group of young Russian sailors who discover how the reality of their mundane daily routines largely contradicts their ambitions in marine exploration. The film is a thought-provoking review on the social environment that shapes juvenile development, and on what young people cherish in their lives.
Other titles also include "Start Over," "Bullterrier," "Eleven Silent Men" and "In Limbo," all of which are diverse, modern Russian feature films.

The Russian Film Festival usually comprises weeks of Russian film overseas screenings. This year, three Chinese cities – Heihe, Beijing, and Suzhou – are the locations of days of screenings aimed at introducing the artistic charms of Russian cinema to Chinese audiences.
Organizers of the event include the Russian Ministry of Culture and the China Film Administration, who are seeking to promote mutual learning and understanding between their respective film industries and filmmakers and to facilitate future cooperation.
