As City won both the Champions League and the Premier League titles last season, Feyenoord from the Eredivisie, which were supposed to be in Pot 3, were promoted to Pot 1.
Thanks to the Saudi-led takeover in 2021, Newcastle has been on a steady rise since then. It will be their first appearance in the Champions League in 11 years. They are in Pot 4. However, like AC Milan in Pot 3, Newcastle has the potential to make a "group of death" with their strength.
The draw for the group stage will happen on Thursday. Teams from the same pot or league will not be in the same group. The tournament will begin on September 19, and the finals will take place at Wembley Stadium in London on June 1. The schedule for the competition will be announced on Saturday.
