Beninese President Patrice Talon arrived in Beijing on Thursday morning for a four-day state visit to China.

During the visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a welcome ceremony and a banquet for Talon, and the two heads of state will hold talks, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and China's top legislator Zhao Leji will also have separate meetings with him, the ministry said.

Talon will also attend a global services trade summit during the China International Fair for Trade in Services 2023, which is scheduled to take place in Beijing from September 2 to 6, according to the ministry.

The Chinese side is confident that Talon's state visit will provide new impetus for the friendly cooperation between China and the West African country in various sectors and bring the bilateral relationship to a new height, it added.

China and Benin celebrated the 50th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations in 2022.
