Among the many notable artifacts unearthed from the Sanxingdui Ruins in Sichuan Province, the significance of the mysterious masks and heads cannot be overlooked. No matter they are gold or bronze, they all tell the story of an ancient civilization with a history that dates back more than 3,000 years.

Covering an area of 12 square kilometers, the Sanxingdui Ruins were accidentally discovered by a farmer in the 1920s. Since then, over 50,000 individual relics have been unearthed from the site, and the excavation work still continues.

The new building of the Sanxingdui Museum began trial operations on July 27 with an impressive collection of over 1,500 pieces, or sets of relics, on display. It received more than 460,000 visitors within the space of a month.
